Meet your new neighbor Philly! Spotted lanternfly Report

A couple of days ago I piqued interest in this fluttering bug that looked like a moth yet moved a hummingbird. The spotted wings and red inside was what caught my eye the most; what a delightful surprise at taking off right? After I saw one, I began seeing them everywhere around my neighborhood. For about 2 days I was amused with how cute and interesting the little bugger was but then it got weird; there was just too many appearing since my first interaction with them two days ago.

After doing a little research, I learned that Philadelphia, PA is currently being quarantined due to the invasion of Spotted Lanternflies! Here's the tea:

I feel as though I am already seeing the trees in the back of my house become weakened from the invasion of spotted lanternflies; throughout this summer a lot of the branches are falling more often and the squirrel who has inhabited the tree is pissed off haha.

The other day I was on my way to kill the one in my backyard but thought it would be cool to showcase their wings so I dragged my mom out to go fw them a bit. Here is how my personal experience went:

Y'all, you really have to kill them because they can tolerate a lot with those long menacing legs of theirs.
